Exploring Colour Magic: A Journey with Complementary and Secondary Colours

School-age 1

This month at RisingOaks Early Learning | Saint John Paul II School-age 1 sat around a table with colourful flashlights, all excited for their colour experiment. The educator talked about complementary and secondary colours, and the children were listening with curiosity and energy.

The children took turns shining different coloured flashlights onto a white surface, observing how the colours mixed and interacted. They watched in amazement as red and green lights combined to create yellow, and blue and yellow lights mixed to form green. When the children put together these 3 lights and placed a paper with a hole in front, the lights separated and changed positions. Through this hands-on experiment, the children not only learned about complementary and secondary colours but also developed their observation and critical thinking skills. They discussed their findings, asking questions and explored the science behind colour mixing. As the experiment concluded, the children were filled with wonders and knowledge. They had not only learned about the magic of colours but had also experienced the joy of discovery and exploration. The kids were full of excitement since they were part of something cool about colours and had fun doing it. Our children have learned that the primary colours are yellow and blue and red by mixing these colours we can produce different colours.
