It has been a creative and meaningful few weeks in our School-age 3 program! The children have been busy exploring, learning, and expressing themselves through a variety of hands-on experiences that celebrated both the season and important events.
Pumpkin Painting & Exploration:
We began the month by exploring pumpkins! The children used their imagination to design and decorate their pumpkins in unique ways, mixing colors, adding patterns, and even experimenting with textures. After painting, we explored the inside of a pumpkin observing the seeds, the smell, and the different parts. This activity supported sensory exploration, creativity, and fine motor development while sparking curiosity and conversation about the fall season.
Remembrance Day Reflections:
To honour Remembrance Day, the children created beautiful poppies using a variety of art materials. Through stories, discussions, and a moment of quiet reflection, they
learned about the meaning behind the poppy and why we take time to remember those who served our country. This activity encouraged empathy, respect, and an understanding of gratitude ; important social-emotional learning experiences for young children.
National Child Day Activities:
We also celebrated National Child Day by talking about children’s rights, kindness, and the importance of every child’s voice. The children participated in collaborative art and group discussions about what makes them feel special, safe, and heard. These activities reinforced a sense of belonging, self-expression, and community.
