What happens when it rains?

  • Infant

On a rainy day, the infant educators wondered how they could bring some gross motor fun indoors. Celine had the great idea of bringing out the big foam climber!
Kendall and Anson were quick to explore the tunnel, while Abir found an interesting way to reach the top of the climber by crawling up the slide. Paige and Mila used the stairs to make their way to the top as well.
Kendall was feeling adventurous as she climbed to the top of the climber and jumped off the side. Anson also climbed to the top, where he took a few moments to find his balance. He then stood up with a big smile, looking so proud of his accomplishment! Celine wonders what Anson was thinking as he stood up so high above the ground.
Anson, Kendall, Abir, Paige, and Mila all found a way to explore the climber together! Later, Kendall and Anson returned to the tunnel, this time peeking at one another as they played. Over and over, they went in and out of the tunnel. Celine wonders if they had turned their exploration into a fun game of peek-a-boo!
Throughout this experience, the children practised their social interaction skills as they took turns climbing up, down, and through the climber. Even when everyone was exploring at once, each child found their own space on the equipment. They spent time babbling and giggling with one another, supporting their early language development. They also strengthened their gross motor skills as they climbed, crawled, balanced, and explored the different parts of the climber!
