Outdoor Explorations

Preschool

We've been patiently waiting for the warmer weather here in the preschool room! Now that it's finally here we are taking full advantage. We have been busy jumping in muddy puddles, venturing out into the nearby forest and enjoying walks through the community.

Through our community walks, we observed various different types of plants, birds and busy bugs. These walks promoted rich conversations about the seasons and changes in the environment. In addition, we practiced road safety, teamwork, built on our spatial awareness and developed a deeper connection with nature and the community around us!

For our puddle jumping adventure, we eagerly put on our muddy buddies before heading out in search for the muddiest puddles. While incorporating all of our senses, we fully engaged in this experience; returning back to the classroom with soggy socks, muddy smiles and a joy for rainy day play.

In the forest, imagination came to life as we engaged in role-playing and pretend play in the teepee. Many of us also enjoyed looking for different insects under fallen logs and practicing our balancing and gross motor skills on stumps and logs. The forest became an outdoor classroom filled with opportunities for teamwork, discovery problem solving and promoting physical activity.
