What can you do with spray bottles?

Toddler 2

This month the toddlers have been very interested in using the spray bottles; from watering the grass to being firefighters to painting with them! The toddlers have been working on their fine motor skills by practicing squeezing and pushing the nozzle to get the water out. The toddlers started by using the spray bottles to water the grass. They worked on pushing the nozzle and aiming it down at the grass. It took some practice and help from our educators, but we were finally able to water the grass on our own. A few days later, we brought the spray bottles out again to use with our new diffusion paper. We coloured with markers on the paper then sprayed it with water to watch the colours mix together. After diffusion paper, the educators painted a fire onto the chalk board outside to enhance the toddlers’ interest in the firefighter jackets and hats. Each child got a chance to wear a hat and use a spray bottle to spray the fire out! We had so much fun spraying the water and watching as the fire disappeared. We also did some painting on the board outside. You may have noticed some paint along the fence and sidewalk when coming to pick your child up. We filled spray bottles with water and paint and sprayed the paint on the clear board. The toddlers were enjoying watching the colours spread and mix together. It took some figuring out how to push the nozzle and get the paint on the board. Once it started coming out of the bottle the toddlers made beautiful artwork. Some of the toddlers even used their hands to spread the paint across the board as well as the spray bottle. The toddlers are so creative and are so excited to continue expressing their interest in more spray bottle activities.
