Creativity took center stage at RisingOaks Early learning | Saint John Paul ll as our summer campers enjoyed a special afternoon of henna tattoos; a highlight of our arts and culture week! The excitement was contagious from the moment we announced the activity. Campers gathered around with curiosity and enthusiasm, eager to explore the art of henna, many for the very first time. Our talented henna artist educators set up a station in the room, where each child could choose a unique design, from elegant flowers and vines to stars, animals, and even some camp-themed symbols! We used all-natural, skin-safe henna, carefully applied in small, intricate patterns. The educators took time with each camper, explaining the history and cultural significance of henna while answering questions and calming any first-timer nerves. It was more than just an art project, it was a cultural moment full of learning, patience, and creativity. Some campers watched wide-eyed as their designs came to life, while others proudly displayed their tattoos to Educators and friends as soon as they dried. The drying process itself became part of the fun, campers walked around with hands stretched out, giggling and comparing designs with each other. It was wonderful to see them so engaged and proud of their temporary body art. Parents, rest assured: all materials used were completely safe and temporary, and every camper was carefully supervised throughout the experience. Our goal was to give them a chance to try something new in a fun, positive, and enriching environment and we’re happy to report that the henna activity was a huge hit! This special afternoon brought together culture, creativity, and community, just one of the many meaningful memories being made at camp this summer.
