Welcome to a brand-new school year in our school age 3 afterschool program! September has been a wonderful month of new beginnings, fresh routines, and building connections. We are so excited to see both returning and new faces, and it has been a joy watching friendships form and children settle into our space.
This month, we focused on building a welcoming afterschool community where every child feels safe, included, and valued. The children had various opportunities to get to know each other through team games, group projects, and creative activities that encouraged cooperation and friendship.
We practiced kindness and respect by taking turns, sharing materials, and supporting one another during activities. Over the past few weeks, the children became familiar with our afterschool routines, which helped create a calm and predictable environment at the end of the busy school day.
A highlight was celebrating each child’s uniqueness. Children shared their interests, stories, and talents, which gave everyone a chance to shine and helped us appreciate the special qualities each child brings to our group. These experiences have laid a strong foundation for a positive and connected afterschool program this year.
