Program Name: Toddler 2

During the month of September, the children in the Toddler 2 class at Oak Creek have enjoyed helping their educators as they explored their brand new classroom. Most of all they have loved playing outdoors on our playground with our bikes and sand toys. However, since we received brand new bouncy balls, they still needed to be filled with air by an air pump. The Toddlers were eager to play with the bouncy balls, so Shae and Lisa decided to get them involved in the set up process as they helped to blow the balls up with the air pump.

Landon and Prescott immediately volunteered to help Shae as they lifted and lowered the handle on the ball pump to fill it with air. Prescott even took over and showed us how he could pump up the ball without any assistance.

Arthur watched attentively as his peers began to pump the balls up. He observed very closely as one by one the balls began to inflate right in front of his eyes.
Christopher and Yekuno jumped right in to grab a ball that was finished being blown up as they then began to bounce them all around the playground. Christopher also filled one of our wagons up with as many balls as he could.

Kaia and Tia enjoyed carrying and holding the bouncy balls as they walked around with it in their arms.

Aj and Leon demonstrated their gross motor abilities as they tossed, kicked, bounced and rolled their bouncy ball while playing alongside their peers and educators.
Gross motor experiences promote long lasting health, relieve stress and boost children's self confidence. Additionally, involving the Toddlers in the set up process provided a learning opportunity where they could strengthen and develop new skills as well as demonstrate their current knowledge and abilities.

The educators in Toddler 2 are looking forward to what they will discover next alongside the children as we both continue to learn more about each other and our classroom!
